The larger a Rat Cage is the better it is. This is majorly because rats are fun lovers and they need enough space to play. The cage of your rat must have a minimum volume of three cubic feet. It is advised to opt for wire mess cages. They are a bit messy as the food and droppings spill out of it but they are the best for the rats. Proper ventilation and the ease to hang toys in them make them a better option. Avoid the cages with wired floor. They must be covered with wood or some other solid material.
